Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the doctor’s discretion and are normally for patients on long term treatment. Your doctor may not be able to issue a prescription for you without having the full information. This sometimes takes time to come through from the hospital or other clinician.
Doctors will only authorize if it is clinically safe to do so. Please check that it is available before you try to collect to save yourself a journey in case of queries.
Requests for prescriptions can be made by returning the computer printout attached to the right-hand side of your prescription to reception. Alternatively in writing or by fax or telephone. Patients can order their repeat prescriptions online as well.

Other methods of ordering
We do take requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone. From 08:30 until 12:00 and 14:00 until 18:00 at Davenal House Surgery and during our general opening hours at Stoke Prior Surgery.
However, if you are able to deliver your repeat prescription requests to the surgery, this helps to keep the prescription telephone line free for those patients who are housebound. We are unable to take orders or issue repeat prescriptions at weekends, public holidays or out of normal surgery hours.
Please allow two working days before collection and make allowances before collection for weekends and public holidays. Please give exact drug name when ordering. If asking for medication that is not on repeat, the prescriptions clerk must ask a GP. We advise the patient to ring back the following afternoon to find out if the GP has issued the medication or has left a message for the patient to be seen or spoken to. Please do not assume that it has been processed because it has been requested.
The surgeries now employ a Practice Pharmacist who can help with medication queries. She works at Davenal House Surgery three mornings per week. f you would like to discuss your medication with her please ask at reception and an appointment can be arranged. She is available to help with any synchronization of your prescriptions or any other queries. Please ask for an telephone consultation or face-to-face appointment.
Stoke Prior Surgery Only
We have provision to dispense to patients who live more than one mile from a chemist/pharmacy. The health service regulations on this matter are very strict and this service can only be offered to those patients who register as dispensing when they join the practice or when they move house. For further information please telephone our branch surgery and our dispenser will be pleased to answer your enquiries.
