Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the doctor’s discretion and are normally for patients on long term treatment. Your doctor may not be able to issue a prescription for you without knowing if you have had the medication before. If so when you have received the medication and who advised the medication i.e. GP, Hospital Consultant, Community Nurse etc.
Requests for prescriptions can be made by returning the computer printout attached to the right-hand side of your prescription to reception. Alternatively in writing or by fax. Patients can order their repeat prescriptions online as well.
All Davenal House Surgery patients must be registered for "Patient Access" in order to be able to order repeat prescriptions. To register for this service please visit the surgery to collect your unique identification code before logging into:
Until further notice Stoke Prior patients will still be able to order their repeat prescriptions via the link below.
We do take requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone. From 08:30 until 12:00 and 14:00 until 18:00 at Davenal House Surgery and during our general opening hours at Stoke Prior Surgery.
However, if you are able to deliver your repeat prescription requests to the surgery, this helps to keep the prescription telephone line free for those patients who are housebound. We are unable to take orders or issue repeat prescriptions at weekends, public holidays or out of normal surgery hours.
Please allow two working days before collection and make allowances before collection for weekends and public holidays. Please give exact drug name when ordering. If asking for medication that is not on repeat, the prescriptions clerk must ask a GP. We advise the patient to ring back the following afternoon to find out if the GP has issued the medication or has left a message for the patient to be seen or spoken to.
The surgeries now employ a Practice Pharmacist who can help with medication queries. She works at Davenal House Surgery on a Wednesday. f you would like to discuss your medication with her please ask at reception and an appointment can be arranged.
Stoke Prior Surgery Only
We have provision to dispense to patients who live more than one mile from a chemist/pharmacy. The health service regulations on this matter are very strict and this service can only be offered to those patients who register as dispensing when they join the practice or when they move house. For further information please telephone our branch surgery and our dispenser will be pleased to answer your enquiries.
To see information on the new laws on driving having taken certain drugs please open the document below.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
